UK Immigration Point-Based System

United Kingdom

If you are an overseas citizen want to work or study in the UK, but you are subject to immigration control, you should first apply for a UK visa. The UK immigration officials use a five-tier points-based system with respective tier separated into several classes for different sorts of work or study visa appeals. UK’s first points-based immigration system was started in February 2008 by the Labor government based on the Australian system. It swapped a labyrinthine stratagem which saw 80 diverse kinds of visa granted. As the UK is a associate of the European Union, the points-based policy only applies to individuals who are entering the nation from outside the European Union. But after BREXIT, such system may be applied to all associate states of the European Union too. However, such a thing is still unidentified.

The Points Based System (PBS)

The points-based visa system is the key UK immigration route for immigrants from external the European Economic Area (EEA) to arrive to the UK to work, study, invest which splits claimants into five ‘tiers’. In demand to be qualified for a visa in any of the five tiers, you should overcome a points-based evaluation. Every tier has diverse conditions, privileges, and entrance necessities for persons desiring to reside and work in the UK and each tier will require you to assign an adequate number of points to obtain entrance clearance or leave to remain in the UK. Points are awarded conferring to traits, such as age, educations, salaries, language and funds, with a diverse number of points required for each of the five tiers. The capability to fund your preliminary stay in the UK and your capacity to speak English will play a significant role in maximum cases. The system is planned to confirm that no one who might risk the health of other peoples in the UK is admitted. Furthermore, those incapable of supporting themselves or their dependents in the UK for medical issues, and those that need primary medicinal treatment (except explicitly approved), will not be permitted with any of the points-based system visas.

Points Needed for Each Tier

Grounded on the tier, the applicant will have to allot the needed points which differ on the kind of visa they are applying for. The points required may vary from each other as follows:
